Stream New Apocalyptica Track Off Upcoming Album, Shadowmaker

Apocalyptica will be releasing their newest album, Shadowmaker, on April 15th, 2015 and I can't fucking wait! Fortunately, we've been giving a track from the release to hold us over and, of course, make us want it even more... and you can stream it right here, right now:

Gods, it's so good. It's classic Apocalyptica but as you've never heard it before, which they are really spectacular at doing. I don't think they could really put out anything bad... I just love Apocalyptica so much.

What's different about this album is that they've now acquired a permanent vocalist as opposed to just collaborating with different voices like they had done in the past. The lucky guy who'll be fronting these legends henceforth is Franky Perez, who according to BraveWords "was part of Scars On Broadway, Pusher Jones and appeared on Slash’s first solo record."

From what I could hear in the track, the man has some excellent gravelly cleans and a furious growl that'll mix well with the insanely melodic fury that comes from the cellos of Eicca Toppinen, Paavo Lötjönen, Perttu Kivilaakso and the powerful drumming of Mikko Sirén.

It was likely a wise choice to go forward with a permanent vocalist, as their one and only slightly questionable (but still fundamentally good) song "I Don't Care" was a bit brought down by Adam Gontier's lackluster contributions and not-so-great vocal performance. When the ball is completely in Apocalyptica's court, however, it's a completely different story. Their best work thus far has been their original compositions, not to mention their incomprehensibly fast and heavy version of "Hall of the Mountain King". Now that they have someone onboard who seems to compliment them well, they will be all the better for it... and what exactly happens when you make better what was already the best? Looks like I'll just have to wait until I get my hands on the album!

I do hope is that they don't make us wait too long for the next album. This one seemed to take forever, but then again, masterpieces always do. ;)
