Gradius Has Officially Called It Quits

R.I.P. Gradius

The mid-atlantic metal community, myself included, are mourning the loss of a truly talented, original and insanely awesome local band.

Gradius has officially ended their run, which was too short in my opinion. There are plenty of others who probably share it, including the almost six hundred like-ers on Facebook.

Here is the band's official statement:

"As most of you guys have suspected, we've called it quits. We're still playing but in different bands, with Ryan and Jason playing in different projects, and Jay and Joe in Foehammer. Thanks for all the great memories and to all the kind people we've met along the way who bought a cd, booked a show, or came out to see us in our short but sweet existence. We love you. Thanks."

So, there you have it. At least we'll have Foehammer for now, and they are pretty heavy. They also have some shows coming up that you won't want to miss if you enjoy bone-grindingly heavy fucking deathy dooms.

Still, my husband and I have our Gradius CD we were graciously given gratis from now-former Gradius member (and current member of Foehammer) Jay Cardinell at one of their shows, so we'll always have that to listen to. They should all be proud for pumping out such fine and crazy jams. Perhaps one day they'll return to resurrect the project, or perhaps we'll hear them jam out with some great new ones.

Wishing the best of luck to all the guys in their new endeavors! They're supremely talented folks, so I'm sure we'll be hearing their names again in future. \m/
