I was very sad to hear this, but it seems the mighty (and mightily awesome) metal act Cassandra Syndrome will be officially over following their final show on September 20th.
The band released this statement:
CASSANDRA SYNDROME TO RELEASE ALBUM, END PROJECT
Operatic Metal Band’s Third Full-Length Album Release Party September 20th, 2014
For Immediate Release – Cassandra Syndrome, a bold, unique fixture of the DC Metro area’s art metal scene, is drawing the curtain after almost eight years of music, merriment and mayhem. The band will celebrate their run with a final show and CD release party Saturday, September 20th, at the Bentz St. Raw Bar and Grill in Frederick, MD. Cassandra Syndrome is delighted to announce the release of their third full-length album, ‘The Shadow Requiem.’ Produced by Jeremy Rodgers and Lani Urreta, this eagerly-awaited follow-up to 2011’s ‘Satire X’ plunges the listener into a fever dream of darkness, passion, beauty, and rage. The past two years have been marred by deaths within the families of the band members, resulting in ‘The Shadow Requiem,’ the most intimate, personal and mesmeric album Cassandra Syndrome has ever created.
Brimming with explosive riffs, operatic punch and infectious energy, Cassandra Syndrome is a female-fronted powerhouse that combines simultaneously dark and beautiful elements. Forcefully heavy riffs and a healthy dose of groove combine with soaring soprano vocals to create what Metal Bite calls “[P]ure metal magic... music with a purpose while still blowing your doors off with an attack that is as brutal as a shark feeding frenzy.” The band’s intense, high-energy performances have proven time and again that they are not an act to miss live. The heated musical edginess and dark, angry undertones of the band’s studio releases come to life on stage, delivering a concert experience with staying power. The potent alliance of Jen Tonon's scathing rhythm guitar riffs, throbbing beats of Jay Jericho's drums, and punishing bass and atmospheric keys of Matt Farkas create a driving ground assault which weakens your defenses before being met by the searing lead lines of guitarist Chris Kackley. Above it all, radiant as Angelic Death, the resplendent soprano of Irene Jericho soars above the battlefield. The music of Cassandra Syndrome is “sung with a vocal hard to forget, over a metal framework hard to duplicate.” – Sonic Cathedral
