Tim Lambesis, Formerly of As I Lay Dying, Finally Sentenced to 6 Years in Prison

Phew! Glad this is finally over so we don't have to talk about this guy anymore.

Former member of As I Lay Dying/Austrian Death Machine Tim Lambesis was finally sentenced almost a year after his arrest and three months after his guilty plea.

He got six years in prison for attempted murder, which Lambgoat first reported.

Meggan Lambesis and her three kids were also given ten years of protection from him. Thank fucking Odin. Here's hoping he stays the hell away from them, and that her and her kids walk away without any lasting damage from all of this.

All the other members of As I Lay Dying were there at the sentencing, except the drummer, Jordan Mancino. Good for him - I don't blame Jordan one bit. Not that it's true across the board, obviously, but in my experience I've noticed that drummers always seem to have a lot more respect for women than they typical musician. You see why I'm marrying one? ;)

Anyway, check out this account of what happened in the courtroom when ex-wife Meggan took the stand (from Radio.com):

When Meggan finally spoke, Lambesis turned in his seat to listen but didn’t look into her face. The wife and mother of three adopted children, Meggan said Lambesis’ behavior changed in the prior months. He had bullied her. He had become “dangerous.” Reading a prepared statement, she claimed her life “felt as fragile as a piece of paper that could float away at any moment.”

Meggan explained to the court that Lambesis texted her the day before his arrest asking for his children’s social security numbers: “He was tying up loose ends,” she said. She now believes he was fantasizing about killing her in advance, quoting a favorite line from the Arnold Schwarzenegger’s film Total Recall where he shoots his wife and says, “Consider that a divorce.” Meggan closed by requesting the maximum sentence and a lifetime restraining order.

Heavy shit. I can tell you without a single doubt that being afraid of your partner taking your life is one of the scariest things imaginable. Imagine having a stalker that has made threats on your life before right there living with you, sharing a family and a home with you, leaving you with almost no conceivable way to truly defend yourself or know when it's coming. It's like living and sleeping beside a nuclear fucking bomb set to go off, but you can never find out when. It's a fucking nightmare.

Apparently Tim is quoted as saying he "wept" in front of her before telling her "I do feel deep remorse. I want to thank you. For her prayers, which proves you still have the heart that you do.

Sure, Tim. In my opinion that was nothing more than an attempt to save face so maybe his band(s) might take him back again in 6 years. Empty words.

No one really knows yet when he'll begin his sentence, but I'm guessing within the month.

Thanks for the music you made in the past, Tim; however mediocre it was, I guess there were a couple of good songs. Really though... good riddance.
