On the heels of a restaurant changing management and refusing to host future metal shows, there is yet another well-loved venue that will be closing down very soon.
Baltimore's The Gold Bar posted this status yesterday:
"As some people may already know, we were informed over the weekend that the Gold Bar will be closing. In the short time we've been open, we've enjoyed great success as a venue and bar... it's unfortunate that the owners don't share our vision for the space and that they don't seem to realize what talented and reputable employees they have. The Gold Bar staff has chosen not to stay on once the the bar is officially closed. We're all going to keep doing what we do well, just in different places. We'll keep people posted with details as we figure things out. We will definitely operate as usual through the end of this month, so please keep coming out to support the bands and bartenders!"
Many were quite fond of this place and it's sad to see another successful venue be forced to abandon operations due to shitty circumstances imposed by the ones who hold the purse strings.
Their last show will be on May 31st, presented by Savage Booking. Diarrhea Planet (what a name), Music Band, Cowabunga Pizza Time (that name makes me hungry), and Ratboiler will be playing that night, along with one other band yet to be announced.
Doors open at 8pm, show begins at 9. It's an $8 cover.
Here's hoping another, possibly better venue takes its place.
