A Sound of Thunder's Bloody, Brutal Performance At Empire

This past Saturday, A Sound of Thunder performed at Empire in Springfield, VA with Ashes of Ares, Martyrd and Ghost of War.

Their set was the second to last on the schedule, and they had planned for the evening a set-list full of old crowd favorites in a venue they've played at many times. Sounds like a great show to me! What could possibly go wrong?

Apparently, the metal gods decided to play some practical jokes on the band that night - resulting in one pretty fucking metal performance, especially from bassist Jesse Keen.

The first of the problems came when vocalist Nina Osegueda broke a boot mid-song, causing her to change shoes when the song had ended.

Shortly thereafter, during the song "Blood Vomit", Jesse Keen's bass strap broke on the very first note.

Then it became clear that somehow the bassist had injured his hand and was bleeding all over his instrument.

Now, if that's not fucking metal, I don't know what is.

Despite all the setbacks, they still powered right on through until the end. But hey, they're power metal, what did you expect?
