Danica Roem, journalist and lead vocalist of locally-based metal group Cab Ride Home is running for the House of Delegates, VA District 13.

Chief among her concerns for her home district is Route 28, which - as any Northern Virginian will tell you - is a hellish highway no matter the time of day, plagued with heavy traffic and frequent accidents.

Shadow Woods Metal Fest RETURNS! All You Need to Know About the Best Open Air Metal Fest in the Region

Get ready, metal heads... Shadow Woods Metal Fest is making a triumphant return this year, September 15 - 18!

Last year was the inaugural run of the festival, hosted by Metallomusikum's Mary Spiro. It was an incredible success, shattering expectations. Everyone in attendance, myself included, had an utterly indescribable weekend of metal camaraderie, mind-blowing music and beautiful, perfectly-suited surroundings. It was one of those experiences you'd remember and enjoy for years after it was over.

Meshach Got His Vest Back

Good news! Macy's has removed an ill-gotten metal vest from a locked glass case on display in one of their New York stores and returned it to the metalhead who made it after a short-lived Facebook campaign.

The vest originally belonged to Meshach "Attack" Babcöck, who was at a Battle of the Bands show being held in the Oregon City High School some time ago when it went missing.

The thief that purloined this personal piece of metal history must have fenced it for cash, and though little is known about how it reached its final destination, ultimately it ended up in Macy's on display in NYC.

Better Late Than Never: My EPICA Experience On Their One & Only US Tour Stop in 2015

Standing side by side with the Gods of Symphonic Metal

The month was September, the year 2015. Months earlier I was fervently begging a relative to chip in for VIP Epica tickets as they had a US tour planned. Baltimore Soundstage was to be their first stop; right in my proverbial backyard.

The Magick of Shadow Woods Metal Fest: Recap

All the stunning images featured herein courtesy of Paul Imburgia Photography.

Dweller In The Valley

On the 25th and 26th of September, something incredible happened. Something magickal and special with hints of sinister and Satanic; something that brought together kindred souls from all over and stirred many to their core. Something that allowed us all to shake off our troubles and be free, unguarded, and at one with nature and each other. Something that was so amazing an experience that I'm certainly not the only one who hopes to re-live it in future years.

That something was Shadow Woods Metal Fest.

A few miles away from one of the places where Pennsylvania and Maryland meet lay a hidden patch of black metal paradise. Lush with a legion of trees, plants and flowers scattered across rolling hills of rich forest floor, the "venue" was an idyllic accommodation for the myriad of talented metal ensembles spanning genres from black, doom, and death to folk. Even a few experimental acts were set to appear during this full weekend of metal, which resonated throughout the grounds from noon to around nine or ten in the evening on Friday and Saturday.

An unpleasant incident has spurred me to write this, and the issue will be addressed here and now to prevent any future misunderstandings about the way this site is run.

New Album From MF RUCKUS Debuts in One Week

When something is really good, it's timeless. The music of Dio or Iron Maiden, for example, will never be overplayed in the minds of those who truly appreciate it.

It can, however, be presented in even newer exciting ways, and that's just what MF Ruckus aims to do with their newest self-released debut, "Thieves of Thunder".
